Mark is well seasoned in serving the Lord and bearing witness of the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Tammy Hynson
Preschool Director
Tammy graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Management and a graduate degree in Elementary Education. She has taught kindergarten in Henrico County Public Schhols, as well as preschool at Berea Baptist Church. She has also had the experience of the directing at another daycare in the area.
She and her husband have been married over 30 years and have 3 grown children. She has been a member of Berea Baptist Church and the Rockville/Montpelier community her entire life. She believes learning is best when it is fun and engaging and includes lots of movement and play.
She feels so blessed that God has called her to touch the lives of children in her community and wants Faith Community Academy to feel like a family for each student who enrolls with us.

Christy Taylor
Kindergarten Teacher
Christy graduated from VCU. A mother of four, a wife to a wonderful Christian man, and a daughter of The King. Christy has taught kindergarten within Christian schools for 20+ years. “Teaching is not only my calling, but my passion! I am very excited to be a part of Faith Community Academy, and am looking forward to all that The Lord is going to do here. “

Anna Edmunds
4 yr old teacher
Anna attended James Madison University (Go Dukes!) for both her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Master’s Degree in Teaching. She taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade in Henrico County Public Schools for 10 years. For the past 5 years, she has been blessed to be able to stay home with her 3 boys. Charlie is headed to Kindergarten in Henrico and Will and Jake will be at FCA this year. our boys have loved being part of Faith Community Academy as students, and Mrs. Edmunds is very excited to join the team as a teacher! Born and raised in the Baptist Church, Anna is looking forward to joining the faith based education team at FCA.

Hope Boatwright
3 Year Old Teacher
I have been married to a wonderful man for 33 years and have 3 beautiful children. I am very excited to be part of the Faith Community Academy family, and can’t wait to see how the light will shine in each child’s face. I believe the experiences and lessons children learn at this stage will last a lifetime, and hope to place a seed of faith, hope, and love in each child.

Annie McGinnis
2 Year Old Teacher
Annie McGinnis was born and raised in Bumpass, VA. She attended Roanoke Bible College (now Mid-Atlantic Christian University) where she received an Associate’s degree in Applied Science with a focus on Deaf Studies and an Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible with a focus on Worship Ministry. She is a proud wife of a paramedic and a mother of four. Annie has been working with children for 12 years, 8 years of which were in a preschool setting. She loves to share her love of music & sign language in her teaching. She is so excited to be working with children at Faith Community Academy.

Karen is a lifelong resident of Hanover County and has been married to her husband for 34 years and has 2 adult children. She recently retired from her career of 36 years as a radiation therapist and is now thoroughly enjoying working with the children at FCA.

Karen Dawson
2 YO Assistant Teacher
Karent graduated from Caligornia State University Chico with a BS in Home Economics/Clothing Textiles. She worked with Campus Crusade for Christ for 5 years in Salt Lake City Utah. Many years Karen homeschooled her 3 children who are now in their 30’s. For 12 years Karen was the area class coordinator with Christian Youth Theater (CYT)/ now Character Works. Later she worked at a local child development center as an administrative assistant and often had opportunities to assist in various classrooms with preschool children.
Karen and her husband John, love serving with the Berea Baptist family. Providing hands-on experiences for young people to learn makes teaching and watching the light turn on as they grasp a concept, very rewarding.

Lindsay Rogers
4 Year Old Teacher
Lindsay is happy to join the FCA team this year as a 4 year old teacher! She attended Longwood University and received her undergraduate degree in elementary education and her masters in special education. She taught 4th grade for 7 years in Henrico County and loved it, but is very excited for a new adventure. She is passionate about creating a safe learning environment and forming relationships with her students. Lindsay and her husband have two little children, Natalie who is 3 and attends FCA and Calvin who is 1 and plans to attend in 2024. We are looking forward to a great school year!

Kristine Ryan
Kindergarten Teacher
My hope as a teacher is to nurture children’s faith, spark their curiosity to learn, and empower them to do their best in all they do. I value creating a loving, safe, and supportive environment that supports learning through play, movement, and hands-on experiences.
I am blessed to be married and have 1 son. My Faith and Family are my number one priorities. I love all things crafty, reading, gardening, and bird watching.

Mary Trapani

Mary is a lifelong member of Berea Baptist Church and is excited to join the FCA Team! She comes to us with 13 years of experience in teaching at a loving Christian preschool. She also served as Berea’s VBS Director for several years and the Children’s Leader during those challenging Covid times. Until recently taking this teaching position, she also served on the FCA School Board.
Mary and her husband are proud parents of their 1 daughter who just recently started her freshman year of college. mary prays she will impact the children God has placed in her classroom just as much as they will impact her own heart.

Christy Talley
Elementary Teacher
Christy grew up in the small town of Louisa, VA. She graduated from Piedmont Virginia Community College with an Associate Degree in Education and transferred to James Madison University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In addition to being a valuable member of our FCAE staff, she spent 3 years working in a private day school in Goochland, VA. Kids have always piqued her interest, she loves the way their brains work at different levels of development. She enjoys reading fiction and being outside. Her 2-year-old black lab, Stella, is her best friend! Christy is a plant fanatic, having about 50 house plants. She is so eager to teach in the love of Christ.

Jennifer Gailey
Director - 1st - 5th Grades
A native of North Carolina, Jennifer graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and a Secondary Mathematics Teaching Certification. She has lived in Virginia since 2002, serving as the Preschool Sunday School Director for almost twelve years at her home church and teaching in Hanover County Public Schools as a High School Math Teacher and Homebound Instructor for six years. Jennifer is a passionate educator with an unwavering commitment to helping students achieve their fullest potential. She is dedicated to building and supporting a Christ-centered educational program at Faith Community Academy, where students have the opportunity to grow as disciples of God’s Word and teachers are empowered to provide quality instruction founded on biblical principles.

Theresa Campbell
Elementary Teacher
Theresa graduated from Beta Technological School and earned her certification as a medical assistant in 1996. She worked in pediatrics for nearly two years. Later, she went on to receive a degree from Liberty University with an undergraduate in business administration and a graduate degree in elementary education. In addition, she worked as a volunteer for special programs, such as Reading First. The efforts through this program worked to increase literacy skills for Virginia public schools. She also has experience in early childhood learning as an instructional assistant, has devoted her time as a Sunday school teacher, and has dedicated over fifteen years as a school volunteer for her four children. Prior to joining the upper school as an elementary teacher, she spent four years in the Faith Community Academy Preschool as a four-year-old teacher. Theresa has a passion for Christ-centered learning, which she believes is a great part of educating the whole child. She is excited to be a part of the upper school and looks forward to continuing to provide excellence in education for all children.

Crystal Wilson
Elementary Teacher
Crystal graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services Counseling, a minor in Special Education, and a teaching certification. Crystal taught in Virginia public schools, most recently Hanover, for 17 years. She mostly worked with students with learning disabilities at the elementary level. After seeking a better, Christ-centered education for her own children, they were all thrilled to have the opportunity to join the FCA family. Crystal is so excited to be at FCA and share Christ’s love with her students!

Tracy Fincham
Elementary Teacher
Tracy grew up in Long Island, NY until moving to North Carolina with her family in 2007. After earning her Accounting degree, she met her husband Brian and moved to Virginia in 2017 where their daughter was born. Prior to joining the FCA Elementary team, Mrs. Fincham was an assistant teacher in multiple schools (including ours!) and childcare centers over the years. She is passionate about clean living and holistic health, and in her spare time you can find her in the garden picking veggies or making herbal tinctures. She has a yellow lab/golden retriever puppy named Goldie, a cat named Binx and some chickens. She felt called by God to become a full-time teacher at FCA Elementary and we are thankful she followed God’s calling.
